Healthwatch Leicester & Healthwatch Leicestershire Annual Report 2025

Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire publishes Annual Report 2024–25: Championing community voices to improve care

More than 10,400 people have shared their experiences with Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire over the past year helping to highlight what’s working well in health and care and what still needs to improve.

At the same time, the team helped over 9,200 people find advice and information about local services. This included support with GP appointments, dental care, social care and getting help for long-term conditions.

Some highlights from the report include:

  • Helping improve Children’s Emergency Care at Leicester Royal Infirmary including clearer information, better signage and plans to make the environment more welcoming.
  • Engaging with hundreds of people at community events and festivals to better understand problems with accessing GPs and NHS dentists.
  • Running 18 ‘Speak Up’ events, giving people the chance to share their concerns directly with NHS staff, councillors and local MPs.
  • Sharing feedback from diverse communities, including Bangladeshi residents, families in temporary housing and people with learning disabilities ensuring their views are heard in decision-making.

“We've listened to people from across Leicester and Leicestershire from inner-city neighbourhoods to rural towns. These voices have helped highlight the challenges people face every day and have led to real improvements in care.”

Harsha Kotecha, Chair

“This year’s report shows the power of listening. Local voices are driving real change in health and care and we’re proud to help make that happen."
