Healthwatch response to latest CQC inspection report on LPT mental health services
As part of this process, we provided detailed evidence and insights to the CQC. This included feedback from people who use services, their families and carers, which reflected their experiences of accessing support.
Harsha Kotecha, Healthwatch Chair said:
“We welcomed the opportunity to share evidence with the CQC in advance of the inspection and we hope this contributed to a more comprehensive understanding of local people’s experiences. The inspection highlights issues people have raised with us over the past year, particularly around access and timely support.
While the report acknowledges many positive aspects including compassionate care and effective teamwork in parts of the service, the ongoing concerns around access and responsiveness must be addressed. People seeking mental health support should not have to reach an ‘ultra crisis’ before they can get help.”
Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire welcomes the opportunity to continue working with LPT and system partners to support improvements based on patient and public feedback.
