Our latest report reveals that, ten years on from Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire's first insight report into Deaf people’s experiences of local health services, significant barriers remain for Deaf and hard of hearing residents trying to access NHS care.

Healthwatch Leicester and Leicestershire has published a report revealing that, ten years on from its first insight report into Deaf people’s experiences of local health services, significant barriers remain for Deaf and hard of hearing residents trying to access NHS care.

The report, ‘A decade on: Progress and challenges in Deaf and hard of hearing healthcare access’, draws on the views of 110 Deaf and hard of hearing people across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Healthwatch Leicester and Healthwatch Leicestershire are inviting members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community to share their experiences of accessing local health and social care services. We want to hear your voice.

It’s been over a decade since our last major engagement with the Deaf community, when we published a joint report in partnership with the Leicester Deaf Forum and British Deaf Association in 2014. Since then, health and care services have undergone significant changes and now, more than ever, we need to understand the current challenges and opportunities for Deaf people in our area.
